Community Kindness Day & Walk is more than a walk, it's a celebration of friendship, inclusion, and community. Bring your family, friends, coworkers, or come on your own. Together, we'll walk, roll, volunteer, cheer, and celebrate a community where everyone belongs. This year's theme, Be Amazing, reminds us that kindness is where belonging begins.

Host a Kindness Booth
Bring Your Organization—and Your Creativity—to the Celebration
Businesses, schools, nonprofits, artists, community organizations, and local groups are invited to host a Kindness Booth at Community Kindness Day & Walk. A Kindness Booth is an interactive, family-friendly activity that allows you to share what you do while helping create a joyful and inclusive experience for the community.
Come as you are, bring a creative activity, and help us celebrate what happens when a community chooses kindness.
Every Booth Includes:
- Food for two volunteers
- 10x10 booth tent
- One table
- Two chairs
Additional features are available with each sponsor-level booth.

Community Kindness Day & Walk is free so that every family and community member can participate. Event sponsors help make the afternoon possible while demonstrating their commitment to kindness, accessibility, and a more inclusive community.

Parking & Transportation
Parking at Mercerdale Park
Limited parking is available near Mercerdale Park. Spaces may fill quickly during community events, so guests are encouraged to arrive early.
Mercer Island Park & Ride
8000 N Mercer Way, Mercer Island, WA 98040. 447 spaces, including 10 ADA-accessible spaces, near the light rail station and within walking distance of Mercerdale Park.
Town Center Parking
7810 SE 27th Street, Mercer Island, WA 98040. 33 spaces; requires ParkMobile registration.
Arrive by Light Rail
The Mercer Island station is now open on Sound Transit's 2 Line, with entrances at 77th Avenue SE and 80th Avenue SE — a short walk from Mercerdale Park. A convenient car-free option from Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, and beyond.

Accessibility
Community Kindness Day & Walk is designed to welcome participants of all abilities. The event takes place outdoors at Mercerdale Park. Participants may walk, roll, join at their own pace, or cheer from the sidelines. ADA parking is available at the Mercer Island Park & Ride.

Is Community Kindness Day & Walk free?
Yes. Community Kindness Day & Walk is completely free to attend. We ask everyone to register so we can plan for attendance and share important event updates.
Do I have to be part of a team?
No. You can register individually, create a team, or join an existing team.
Do I need to raise money?
No. There is no fundraising requirement. This year's event is about showing up, walking together, and celebrating kindness, inclusion, and community.
Who can attend?
Everyone is invited. The event welcomes families, children, teens, adults, schools, businesses, community organizations, and people of all abilities.
What does it mean to create a team?
A team is simply a group of people attending and walking together. You can create a team with family, friends, coworkers, classmates, neighbors, a sports team, a congregation, or a community organization.
Can our team walk in honor of someone?
Yes. Teams may walk in honor of someone special, celebrate a milestone, recognize an act of kindness, represent a school or workplace, or simply support a community where everyone belongs.
Is there a cost to create or join a team?
No. Creating or joining a team is free.
What is the Community Spirit Champion award?
Judges will recognize the team that brings the most creativity, enthusiasm, positive energy, and team spirit. Matching shirts, costumes, team colors, creative themes, signs, and accessories are encouraged. The winning team will receive tickets to a major Seattle sporting event.
Can children attend?
Yes. This is a family-friendly event with activities and entertainment for different ages. Children should remain supervised by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult.
What is a Kindness Booth?
A Kindness Booth is an interactive, family-friendly activity hosted by a local business, school, nonprofit, artist, or community organization. Activities may include art, music, games, STEM, crafts, movement, sensory experiences, or other creative ways to bring people together.
How can my organization host a Kindness Booth?
Complete the Host a Kindness Booth application. Friendship Circle will follow up with participation information, requirements, and sponsorship options.

What happens if it rains?
Community Kindness Day & Walk is planned as an outdoor event. Weather-related updates will be emailed to registered participants and posted on the website.
Is the event accessible?
The event is designed to welcome people of all abilities. Participants may walk, roll, move at their own pace, or cheer from the sidelines. To request an accommodation, contact [email protected].
Where should I park?
Limited parking is available near Mercerdale Park. Additional transportation information, including light rail and nearby parking options, is available in the Event Details section. Guests are encouraged to carpool or take light rail.
Can I bring a dog?
Our pet policy is being finalized with the City and event organizers and will be posted soon. Service animals are always welcome.
Will food be available?
Yes. Food will be available during the event. Specific food vendors and dietary information will be announced closer to the event.
Do I have to participate in the walk?
No. You are welcome to participate in the activities, host a booth, volunteer, cheer for walkers, or simply enjoy the community celebration.
