Know the feeling you get when you're around friends who really care for you, who really love you, who really SEE you? Every person deserves this, regardless of ability. Be part of giving back and providing this amazing feeling to children and teens with special needs!
The Friendship Circle helps build a community of compassionate young leaders. Through many volunteer opportunities, training events, volunteer-only educational activities and more, teens develop important leadership and life skills.
Teens also learn the importance of giving and being accepting of others. Working with children with special needs transforms teens into more caring, sensitive people who have a more concrete sense of identity. The experiences they share with the children help teens develop a communal sense of responsibility and teach them to embrace every individual with love and acceptance.
Step One: Register to Volunteer
Fill out the form below to let us know you are interested in volunteering. There are two ways to volunteer, as a full-time volunteer or flex-volunteer. Full time volunteers are committed to attend at least 80% of Sunday Circles or have a weekly Friends@Home buddy. Flex volunteers attend programs based on availability on a week-to-week basis. Both are important to making Friendship Circle run, however, full-time volunteers have certain benefits like being matched with a consistent buddy and earning awards and incentives based on how many hours they volunteer!
Step Two: Meet with a Volunteer Coordinator
Friendship Circle requires that all new volunteers participate in an intake meeting before they can participate in programs. You will meet with a volunteer coordinator who will give you an overview of our programs, how to volunteer, and discuss the programs that you would like to volunteer in. The intake is also a good time to ask any questions or share any concerns you may have.
Step Three: RSVP for Programs
Once we receive your registration form and you’ve met with a volunteer coordinator, you will receive a welcome email with information on how to RSVP for programs, create an FC account to log your hours, and will be added to our email and text communications! Then you’re ready to start volunteering
